This is our 3rd ice maker in 15 years, with repairs in between. I don’t think they are built to last in the size and price point. But we love having so much ice on hand. BBQs, coolers, boating - we could never keep up with demand in a refrigerator ice maker.

Makes clear ice, beautifully, and quickly. It replaced one that was about 10 years old, and is substantially better in that the buttons are now instantaneous, whereas you had to press and hold the old buttons (why? who knows...). I have only used it for a few days, but am happy as a clam with it!

I moved into this house 30 years ago and this is my 3rd machine from this same line of Whirlpool icemakers. The first lasted 16 years and the second lasted 14 years and I'm expecting similar great service out of this one. We love the small, clear ice cubes! I've already gotten a relative to buy a Kictchen Aid machine from Whirlpool after having been at my house.
