My husband and I remodeled our kitchen in 2011 and had the then-current model of this retractable downdraft vent system installed. A few months ago it stopped working - it would not retract. We tried having it repaired, and after 2 attempts to replace first the motor, then the control board, the service technician determined the problem is with the fuse. Unfortunately, he was told by the manufacturer that the fuse is a non-replaceable part. So we are left with a non-working vent fan stuck in the up position. Do we dismantle our granite countertop? What kind of design makes the fuse impossible to replace??
