The heating element goes all the way across the bread surface to toast it evenly. This one replaced my old 2-slice toaster that didn’t accommodate artisan bread. Now I have more versatile toasting options! Did my research before buying this one & very happy with this toaster!

I have been searching ( and purchasing) toasters for about a year now. Never satisfied, either uneven toasting, too dark no matter what setting, can't get the toast out, and so on. I know the Kitchen Aid brand as I have others in my kitchen so figured why not try it? So glad we did!!!
