First of all, it's more black than stainless steel. Overall, I like it except for the power boil....that is too much for me. It's also not that easy to clean...

This GE cooktop does its job, but cleaning it is VERY difficult. There is also no wheels underneath and one cannot move it front/back for cleaning purpose. One has to heavy-lift (needs 3 to 4 people) to lift it in the kitchen if you want to clean the backside of the cooktop

This is the first smooth top I've ever owned. So far it is nice. Like the ability to easily clean up. It is easy to use and we like the sleekness of it.

I love the way it looks, gets hot fast. May stain a little quick if liquid spills over but shouldn’t be an issue if you have the correct cleaning products for this type of stove
